Loxbeare January 2020 Round Up

A Happy New year to everyone and trust you all had a blessed Christmas as we celebrated the birth of our Saviour Jesus Christ. We joined Calverleigh for our Christingle service instead of having one at Loxbeare.

It was good to see many at the Carol Service held on the 15 December.  t was taken by Steph with members of the congregation reading the Christmas Story throughout the Bible. The offering of £120 was given to Vranch House.  Presents were placed under the tree and later distributed to Pinnex Moor House/Ashdowne Nursing Home on 23 December.  A small number of Carol Singers visited the Homes & sang carols to the patients with visitors & staff of the home joining in. It was a very worthwhile happy afternoon. Thank you to all who helped decorate the Church & helped over the Christmas Period.

A big thank you to the Carol Singers, though few in number, who sang on the three nights. Because of the horrendous weather the first night was postponed until the following night when the weather was better. Thank you to Jean, Chris & Felicity Wyman & to Myrtle and family who kindly provided the delicious suppers. Also to everyone who gave so generously – a wonderful total of £700 was raised to support the work of ‘Open Doors’ & Mind.

On 5 January we welcomed Washfield and Calverleigh to the Cluster Service. A good number attended with Steph taking it.

A total of £100 has been donated for 'Help the Heros', the offering from Remembrance Day Service, and also thank you to all who gave donations or filled shoe boxes for Blythewood where a total of 43 boxes were given.

The Annual Parish Church Meeting will be held on 22 April.

A P.C.C meeting will be on the 4 Feb at Jean’s at 7.30.

It is good to hear that those recently who have had operations are progressing well. Muriel Ferris, Sue Troake, Leslie Tidball, Cecil Partridge. We continue to pray for them and for Katy Barlow for a speedy recovery and Liz Wareham after her fall.  Also Steven Radford & any waiting for their operations and/or treatments, for comfort for those who have lost loved ones and anyone suffering with viruses, flu & colds.

Congratulations to all those with special occasions and Happy Birthday; to those with birthdays in February/March.

The Christmas Fayre raised £257 for Village Hall Funds. Thank you for all those who helped and/or donated.
