News from Loxbeare - July 2019

On 17 June the monthly Group Sing Praise mid-week worship evening was held at Loxbeare which took the form of a Kenya-Style communion service.  It was a meaningful & moving service taken by Steph with Marion and Robert leading the worship on their guitars.

At the time of writing we look forward to a BBQ service on 14 July at the Hall with John speaking.  The 21 July Family Service will probably be the last service John will be taking for us.  We then welcome all the parishes for the Group Service on 28 July.

We will be soon saying a sad goodbye to John & Marion Roberts who will be leaving us sometime in August having lived in Loxbeare for 26 years.  We thank them for all their contributions and dedication to the Church, Loxbeare parish & to the Exe Valley Group.  John took many services, Bible Studies, visiting, was treasurer of the Village Hall.  Marion played the organ/guitar almost every week, led the Woman’s Bible Study.  Both of them were on the PCC etc and much much more – impossible to cover everything in which they have been involved.  The support and encouragement they have given us and when needed to individuals, families and the wider community has been much appreciated.  They will be very much missed.  We wish them every happiness and God’s blessing in their new home.

We say goodbye also to Steve & Liz Barrow, Scott and Pippa who are leaving the Village this month (July).  We wish them well in their new home.

Our Harvest celebrations begin on Saturday 28 September at 2.15 with a service in the Church when the speaker will be Rev Andy Humm from St Paul’s.  The offering will be for Tear Fund.  This will be an opportunity for the Children to bring Harvest gifts to the front of the Church during the service.  Sports & tea will follow.  Harvest Songs of Praise will be Sunday 29 September at 6.30.  Do come and join us to give thanks to God for his abundant provision.  Decorating the Church will take place on the Friday and Saturday morning.  Gifts and help would be much appreciated.  Our Harvest Supper will be on Monday 30 7 for 7.30.  Tickets £5.  If you wish to go please let Carol know on 01884 881480.  After supper speaker to be arranged.  Proceeds from the sale of produce will be given to C.H.A.T.

We send our sympathy to Roger Matthews & Family of Old Kitterbury at the loss of Andrea after a short illness.  Also to Jan Page whose Mother In-law has passed away.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all who are feeling unwell at this time, receiving treatment or waiting for operations.

Happy Birthday to all who have birthdays in August/September & congratulations to those celebrating special occasions.

We hope the children will enjoy their summer holidays and we pray for all who will be starting school or moving to a different school in September that they will soon settle, be happy and make new friends.  We encourage children to learn & have some fun at the Holiday Club at Calverleigh.
