Holiday Club 2017- Dress Rehearsal

This year's Holiday Club was held at Calverleigh Hall to enjoy a fun packed four days of fun and games. Around 40 children attended each day, learning from the Bible and taking part in sports and crafts. The weather was very kind to us, and we managed to avoid the showers, and the children were able to enjoy sports and games out on the grass during the afternoons.
During the mornings we sang songs accompanied by live music, which proved to be very popular. Steph’s dramatized story telling was also very well received by children and adults.

Children worked in their teams to fill in activity books relating to the days story, finding out the answers through discussion and reading the Bible. Each day focussed on a different story, based around a costume. For the story of Noah, wet weather gear was required! Children learnt about prayer in a different way each day, writing their prayer on a paper boat they had made and sailing it in water was just one.

We all learnt so much, not just the children. We got to know each other and make new friends during the week.

Lunchtimes were times for getting together to chat over lunch and the much loved tuck shop! In the afternoons children were able to take part in crafts, junk modelling being a favourite with many large and intricate models being made, as well as musical instruments, which formed a band as the week went on! They also  took part in making mobiles and masks, creating all sorts of things out of playdough. During the afternoon there were opportunities for team games outside, a favourite is the clown game and football as always is very popular with the children and adults.

Without the support of helpers who are able to give their time during this week, the holiday would not run. I would like to say a big thank you to all the helpers who gave up their time to help. Without your support we would not be able to run Holiday Club.

We finished the week on Sunday with a service, picnic and some games, which made a fitting end to the week.

Preparations are already underway for next year’s Holiday. It will be held at Calverleigh Hall the week beginning the 6th of August 2018. If you would like to help, or would like to know more about what we do contact Cindy on 01363 866621
