"African Sanctus is literally unique, both in conception and completion" Antony Hopkins - BBC Radio 3.

African Sanctus is the best known work of British Composer and ethnomusicologist, David Fanshawe.

The ground breaking and widely acclaimed choral Mass juxtaposes the latin text of the Mass with traditional African music which the composer heard and tape-recorded during a journey up the Nile, from the Mediterranean Sea to Lake Victoria, crossing Egypt, Sudan, Uganda and Kenya.

In a truly innovative style, Fanshawe's tape recordings, dating from 1969, form an integral part of the compesition... beautiful African sounds in counterpart with Western Choral harmony.
